First of all, I'm a newbie. Sorry if my question seems basic. I don't usually do work across OS platforms.

Have a new PC running XP. It has a 120GB drive. This persons old PC is running w2k pro with an IDE 80 gig drive. IS there any way to install the 80Gb drive as a slave and expect it to work? It does not have the w2k OS on it (that's on the old SCSI). Will apps installed for W2K run on XP?

Thanks

You can install it as a second HDD but you would not be abþle to use either the second OS nor the installed programs on that disk. There are ways to install two operating systems on a system but this is not the way.

Any apps on the 2k disk will only run if they don't need system files or registry entries which don't exist on the XP installation. You can try running each to see what happens.
