Hello,

i have been working on a XP - 2K network for about a year and it has been working fine. some days the computer wont see each other or one wont see the other. its usually the XP machine that causes the chaos in this network. yesterday i went out and got a laptop, i connected it to my network and the main 2K desktop can see the Laptop AND the XP desktop. The 2K Laptop can see the 2k desktop AND the XP desktop. BUT the xp desktop can only see the 2k desktop (like originally set up) so what seams the problem is that the XP doesn't want to see any newcomers. as the last attempt i redid the network connection wizard on the XP desktop and 2K Laptop and now the Laptop can even see the XP desktop!!!

Any help would be great

Cheers,

Iain

I assume you have them all setup as a workgroup correct?

If so, are all the network configurations the same (workgroup name, dns, wins... etc)?

If one machine can't see the others, it's because of the group / domain that it is (or isn't) in.

Recheck your settings on the new machine to make sure they match the all the other machines. CJ

Don't drink and post, save that for driving home!
