Spare XN120 has been on shelf for some 3 years. Existing system has failed so installed spare.
On boot the system phone 'clicks' as expected whilst the s/w loads except it never gets to the end.
How can I get the system to boot? (Button cell battery flat?)

Have you checked that the 'NORMAL' switch (bottom-right nr Moh port) is in the correct position?
If you have already checked this then try uploading a new firmware version onto the system.

Thanks for the swift response Sibell.
Had already set the switch to off so upload new firmware.

Have an EXIFU-A network card installed BUT connecting to a lan hub shows no connection (have checked the cable)- because it needs firmware?

This seems a chicken & egg situation. How can I load software from Topaz onto a dead system?

Well its not dead yet, just not booting up correctly, its powering up ok you said.
Perhaps corrupted fw maybe? on the motherboard.

What type of flash card (where did you get it?, its not an old dspdb vmail one is it?)
Have you got another exifu card you can try?
You don't need the LAN obviously for the Exifu but wonder if its working, if you try and boot up (leave for a few mins) with normal switch ON, insert flash card to the exifu - do you get the red LED coming on (exifu) to indicate insertion?

What is the fault with the previous ccu? Could you possibly use the psu/chassis from replacement and motherboard from original failed unit
