XMPie Variable Imaging Books

Previously, I had completed this job in Lytrod, which allows you more flexibility with actual code programming to achieve desired results. With XMPie it appears I do not have this option. Now, for a brief description of my goal:

Variable Imaged books.
-50 identical pages 2 sided (variable on one side only)
-Variable on outside of front cover, static text on inside of front cover
-Blank Sheet for back cover.

-Guts of book are standard 20# stock
-Covers are heavier/thicker cover stock.

My largest issue is having the programming distinguish between the 2 types of stocks. Is there anything in XMPie or CS1/CS2 that can flag certain pages to be "exception" pages?? This is an issue that's plagued me for months now. Thank you in advance.

Not exactly what i was looking for but indeed is a helpful site. It's mostly an XMPie specific issue, or better yet, InDesign specific.
