Does anyone know why my browser is showing xml as the code instead of executing it.

It is not happening on my other machine so am I to take it there is a browser setting to decide whether or not to execute XML rather than displaying the source code.

I'ts just I can't find it - any one know why this is happening.

Hmmm... maybe the path to your xsl is not valid on that other machine? Could it be that you are running one local and other not? I'd look into paths first off (with the knowledge that Windows and the rest of the world treats paths to files slightly differently).

Cheers,
Jeff

My understanding of XML is that it models the data (for your site). You apply transformations to that data to create valid markup for display as a "web page". These transformations are stored in an XSL file (a stylesheet) and linked from within the XML file.

If the path to the XSL is broken, then the XML is not transformed... and so will display the data alone. This seems consistent with your explaination of symptoms.

well i've cleared the cache and it's made no difference, so it can't be that, could something be blocking the file do to some blocker or setting ?

Try visiting the site using Firefox (greater than 1.02 I think) and see if you can get through. If not, then the problem is most likely isolated to the particular client. Best to go check what else they actually have installed on their computer.

try downloading the xml module from MS and see if that cures your problem.

it seems as thought there was an issue with this site as when the user and myself viewed the site in FireFox we both got the following error
XML Parsing Error: xml processing instruction not at start of external entity
Location: Line Number 1, Column 4: <?xml version="1.0"?>
---^
the site owner has made a change and it displays correctly in FF now, but the other user still sees XML tag code instead of the HTML in I.E. , so i think there is an issue with his machine as well as with the site, which doesn't help!
