XML schema basics

Hi,
I'm new to XML.
I'm looking for some basics on how to use an XML schema file.
I have a dataset created in VB.NET and an xml schema file, but have no idea how to use the two together.
If someone could direct me to a good tutorial, or some on-line documentation, that would be great!!
