XML parser and Various web servers?

I have been having problems getting IE5/6 and NS6.2.1 to
read a simple XML document. Under iPlanet web server the
IE5/6 will read the simple file but NS6 will not. Just returns an empty DOM object. I had a problem with iPlanet so I installed version 3.3 of Tomcat. Then IE5/6 started not reading the file as well... Any ideas why the web-server would affect my ability to read in XML under either web/servlet server?
