I'm wondering if anyone has come across an industry standard XML file format for medical claims? The layout would serve as a template to create a XML file in SAS using put statements.

Why not Google? Trying search terms "health claim xml schema" unearths a reading list. Maybe the IBM article would be a good start?

I have just discovered that the standard XML file for this type of industry is the ACORD format. Its the industry XML file format for the Life Insurance, Annuity and Health Insurance industries. Google ACORD as suggested. Very complicated to work with, I am having my own problems with a file of this format myself. Good luck, you'll need it.
