I want to Export a Project (with all nodes and versions) as an XML Export.
My problem: the Project ist greater than 2.5 GB. When i try to do an xmlexport the download faild after a view minutes. I set the timeout of the IIS greater than 30 minutes, but it fails again.

Some Ideas?

Sorry about my english

Try to do it on the server having your IIS so that your livelink URL will be This will give you a little more leeway.Otherwise write a download function with oscipt or lapi to do that .2.5 GB is not such a big file unless you ae trying a dial up connection. What good is a project anyway outside of livelink.are you trying a prod to dev copy of a livelink project.Otherwise you could start xmlexporting the individual comapnents.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

One of the things that I have found is that the XML Export can sometimes be improved if you purge the versions of the objects so that you only export the document versions that you need - usually just the latest.

Otherwise I would suggest creating several smaller projects and copying the data from the main one in these in chunks and then moving each chunk seperately.

Syntergy has an enhanced version of XMLExport/XMLImport that allows you to specify a filename as a parameter. The export is saved to the file so the size of the export doesn't matter. It also allows you to export audit trail information and preserve object ownership on import. Our customers use it as a Content Mover to move Livelink data from one instance to another. There is information on it at:

under Content Mover.

Hi,

we developped a tool that allow project migration from one LL server to another one. It moves all including folders, docs, counpound docs, permissions, tasks, task list, task groups, news, channel, discussions, ...

please mail me directly if you want some more details.

Sorry,
no such info.
This is a java/LAPI program we developped for a customer migration and are trying to industrialize and sell. We are not quite ready yet. Not even a price !

We started with XMLExport but had some timeouts pbs with large projects because the XML was too long to be generated and so went back to a full LAPI thing.
