what is the difference between the two besides that schema can specify data types.

would most companies support both formats? (such as oracle, peoplesoft, etc)

which does peoplesoft use, dtd or schema?

It's not just DTD vs. Schema. It turns out that there are also two styles of (incompatible) schemas.

We've been using DTDs at work, but we're going to switch to the .XSD style of Schema so that we can more precisely specify the datatypes, and most importantly, the lengths of text elements.
