xml driver not licensed

Hi; I am using cr9 advanced and have a previous install of 8.5 which has never caused me problems.
I am trying to use the odbc xml driver and while it seems to connect ok, I am getting a license error. basically it says: merant odbc driver crxmlv36 (or 4.10, depending on which I try to use) is not licensed. Then it lets me click ok and move on.
I have tried reinstalling but to no effect; any one have problems with this?

Unfortunately, no, this is a different situation.

This seems to be specifically for compiled reports and an older version of Crystal. I am not trying to distribute the report. I have a complete fully licensed install of CR9 advanced on my workstation. I am getting the error when attempting to refresh the data. Otherwise the report works and the driver pulls back data.
