XLS to prn to txt

I need help converting a wide spreadsheet into a text file. prn (space delimited works on smaller files where the lines are under 240 characters, but my xls file is very wide. 26 columns and is greater than 240 characters which cause it to merge into 2 lines. How do I fix? I want to specify the space width for each column.

Select each column and set the width. If all columns are the same width, select ALL columns and then set the column width one time.

That may work for the widths of the columns, but the file is too wide. When I export it into a prn. The rows change from one row into 3 or 4 rows, because it exceeds the 240 character limited per line of the prn.
