Xircom Pocket Ethernet III will not install on my Win 98 Laptop!!

I have a Compaq Armada 1560 laptop(equipped only with a floppy disk, no CD-ROM) which was running Windows 95. In my wisdom I decided to install Win 98 on there which I did across the network. I have 98 running fine but I cannot install my Xircom Pocket III Ethernet card which connects me to a NetBEUI network. Can anyone offer any ideas as I've been back and forth with the Intel techies and I can't get anywhere?
