In my product system (AIX 4.3.3) the X server gets started with

xinit -- /usr/bin/X11/X -bs -su -T -force

I couldn't find anything in the man pages or in the IBM documentation about the -force option. Apparently I need the option since I found a way to start my system where X is stared without the -force option and doesn't come up (complains about not having a lft ... ). So it looks like the option forces X to run even without lft, but I'd like to see some more background info about the missing documentation of that flag ...

Anybody out there with some insight ?

No it doesn't. It just uses the -force option without explanation :-(
