Hello,
I am running Suse Desktop Linux and I am having problems
stopping and restarting the xinetd daemon.
Can anyone telnet me the correct way of stopping and starting
this in Suse?

Thank You

As root, issue
Code:
/etc/init.d/xinetd restart
Other arguments are 'start' and 'stop'.

would "service xinetd restart" not work also?

The "service" script seems to be something that's a bit of an add-on by folks like Redhat. Your distro may differ, so don't expect it everywhere you go. Not standard in Debian for example IIRC.

You should get into the habit of controlling services through /etc/init.d/service_name start|stop|restart as this is consistent across many Linux distros.
