XINE plugin for Region 1 DVD's

I would like to know if anybody has gotten XINE to play region 1 DVD's. It plays region free DVD's fine. I know about the legal crap going on about this but I don't care. I paid for my DVD's full price and want to watch them on my computer. Fair use comes into play.

There are links starting from the Xine site but it seems never ending like a trip through the rabbit hole.
