Has anyone tried a Custom Install with R2? Specifically, tried to install just the WCA ( or, client side, just the Publishing Wizard)?

We have found that whatever limited set of parts you choose, 2.2 GB!! of files are created on the server or client...Same as a full install but with less functionality, since the executables for the client stuff are not set up.

Support insists that it must be the way we are installing things, but I have been instaling Crystal and Business objects for years and I am pretty sure I know what I am doing..[wink]

The tech did mention something about using a silent install, but, since the docs indicate that it cannot be done from a set of CDs it would be difficult to go to several client machines ( for the Pub Wizard install, assuming we could just install that..)

You are correct, I just tested it on a virual server with the same results. [mad]

You could create ISOs of the CDs and then install from a network server, but it's a PITA.

Hi,
Thanks..We do have the entire install CDs extracted to a network dir, so I can use that..However, no developer is going to want 2.2 GB taken up when all they want is the Publishing Wizard..I guess we'll use CR XI and the CMC to publish ( another PITA, since it is a one at a time approach)...
