XHTML page margins and other questions...

Within a page, if I want it to be 'stuck' to the top left of the screen and get rid of page margins I typically use marginheight="0", marginwidth="0", etc...

HOW do you do this in XHTML since it obviously isn't proper code.

Also, for some reason you can't have background images within tables or table cells in XHTML. Any way to get around this? table background images are a valuable asset to me and probably always will be, so why would they get rid of this? DIVs are useful yes, but I find my method FAR easier.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
