I have a customer who is movining onto our property. We generally provide telephone service for the majority of customers, but this his customer is bringing there own system with them...no big deal. We do reguire all customers on property to transfer all 911 calls to our local PSAP. I know this is not my problem but I was curious to how this would work from the customers end.

that is a line provider issue, you only pick up the line dial 911, the routing from there on is up to the line provider.

Let me clarify because I may have not given enough information. Yes you are correct that is a line provider issue. The problem arises because I am the major line provider for the facility. We provide dial tone for the entire campus, we own 20,000 DID’s. When anyone lifts a handset connected to one of our CS1K, and dials 911 the call is routed to our onsite PSAP. At that point the Police, EMT or Fire Control is contacted and responses, all of these agencies are located on campus and do not leave campus. So that being said, the customer is not going to connect to our CS1k and they will be pushing dial-tone from another location, via a fiber remote using a P2P T1. The new customer will not have the same exchange since we own the entire range of 2+ exchanges. We have mandated in our tenant agreement that all phones on campus when 911 is dialed MUST route to our LOCAL PSAP because of the demographics of our campus/facility. I have done something similar to this, in another life, when pushing dial-tone to a remote office and “tagging” a range of DID’s for another physical location, I just don’t remember what I did and what it was called. I guess im getting old

Just asking.

Thanks
Phil

Most PBX's will allow routing of any number to any other number by manipulating the software set up. However not all PBX's can manipulate a specic set of phones to do one thing while all others do something differently. That being said, I would strongly recommend you get with the new customer's IT group and make sure they are aware of what you need to happen with 911 calls and see if they have the capability to do what you want. They may have to spend $$$ to get a software/hardware package etc to do this option, again depending on the type of PBX.

Thx TRvlr1,

Yes I have contacted the customers IT group and they just "YES'D" me. I don't know if they understand what needs to be done to complete this function, but I will stay on top of them.

I think they are running off a Definity Prologic?

Is there anything that can be done from the CO side where it could be routed per a specific DID?

One possible solution is to have the customer to install a local trunk interface in their remote equipment. Then have at least 2 connections to your CSK1+ system for 911 access. I done that for mutiple locations on a single opt81c that have mini carrier remotes and other option swithches.

Now that makes sense!

Thanks
Ken
