Recently installed Mandrake 5.2 Mandrake and began having problems with my resolution using kde. I am getting 1024x768 at detail 24 and a virtual desktop of 1280x1024. No matter what I do, including removing the XF86Config file from the /etc/X11 directory. When I do this xinit still works rather that tell my it cannot find the XF86Config file. What the heck should I do?

There are two different X-configuration programs. One of them is Xconfigurator, which is graphically run, and the other is XF86Config, which runs in a terminal. I have often found that if one doesn't fix my problem, the other will.
Also, have you always used xinit to start KDE, or did you use startx?
I think Mandrake KDE stores X information in your user directory, not just /etc/X11.
Post more details about your card, and how you configure X-windows, and I will try to help.
