Help,

We have a Xerox printer that is stuck printing the same document over and over again.

We have switched it off and turned it back on 5 minutes later but it keeps printing even when it is disconnected from the network.
The printer will not let us into the menus, and when you press the cancel button is says canceling but it continues printing.

Any advise on what to try would be of help.

Have you checked network print queues for it to see what is in there?

John

If you switched it off, and disconnected it from the network, and when turned on disconnected from the network it keeps printing, this monster needs you to call Xerox.

The print queue is empty, plus we have tryed it with the network disconnected yet it continues to print even after swiching it off and on.

I concur with bcastner in that this needs a Xerox service engineer's attention, but have a couple more suggestions first:

1. Remove all the input paper trays while switched off. When it gets back on it won't be able to print any more - so maybe you can get into the control menus.

2. The large printers often have multiple connectors - ethernet, parallel etc. As well as the ethernet, I would also check that there are no other input connections to the machine (ie someone has used a sneaky parallel cable to their laptop to bypass the network print queues).

Most printers have a reset function. You hold down some button while powering it on and it clears all the memory. Of course this will erase the network queue settings too.
