I'm trying to install the Xerox XE80 drivers onto my
Windows XP Home machine. I follow the instructions on the Xerox website for installation, but every time just as the drivers are nearly finished loading, the system reboots, and then stays in an endless reboot cycle until I go to safe mode and remove them. Xerox tech support has been abyssmal as they have simply blamed the machine, which I built and has been working flawlessly for several years. It uses an Epox 8KTA+ board with latest BIOS and a 750MHz Athlon. Trying to install on LPT1 port. Any suggestions?

If haven't done so, try installing drivers in safe mode with printer disconnected to system. Might be prob with other program such as AV. If good, while still in safe mode, reconnect printer and try print. If good, back to norm mode. If prob recurs, need to isolate problem child. In safe mode, run msconfig (start/run/msconfig). Under STARTUP, uncheck everything, reboot. If good, then start rechecking each until prob recurs. Then you can decide what to do. A call back to Xerox might be helpful if you know where conflict is.
