Xerox Workcentre 32 Pro Comm Error

I have a Workcentre 32 Pro that is saying, "There is a communication error, to press the white power switch to reset the machine."
I have done this many times and can't figure out what the issue is. The manuals I have don't specify troubleshooting comm errors.
Does anyone have any suggestions, I don't have any idea where to start diagnosing the problem.
