Hi, I received the error replace black toner cartridge, with no error code, in the information it says black toner cartridge is empty.
I got hold of the service manual and replaced CRUM reader box, motor driver board, toner cartridge holder assembly and at last the engine control board. I even switched the sensor toner from the cyan cartridge holder assembly to the black, but I keep getting the same error. What else could it be ?

After changing all of these parts did you try annother toner cartrage?

Another thing to check is if you have another error. With Xerox printers if you have two errors at the same time the first w/n clear until the second is cleared and the second w/n show on the panel until the first fault is cleared. Finding the second can be a pain. But I'd go into the fault history and see if anything else shows up. Later

Yes,initially I replaced the black toner cartridge with a new one and with another that was working but the error continued. The fault history does not report any new errors, the only weird thing I saw was in the service diagnostics, in nvram access, toner crum check it says that the yellow toner is not a genuine xerox product. What gives?, it is an original toner that was working fine.

Here is a note on the non genuine xerox cartridge:

A “NON Xerox Cartridge” message can be displayed on the 6250 when a toner cartridge reaches end of life. My 6250 was giving me a Magenta low message. I kept printing and when it reached (I assume) end of life the printer it gave me a “Not a Genuine Xerox Cartridge” message instead of end of life. I reseated the cartridge to see if it would give me an end of life message and still got the NXTT message.

This is a know phenomenon caused by the toner cartridge exceeding the allowable pixel count and dispense time limits. If these limits are exceeded then the printer assumes the cartridge has been refilled. This scenario should be rare and can only happen if the cartridge in question had more grams (from the factory) of toner than usual or has been refilled.

That would constitute as another error, and as Lon said, could cause the black cartridge empty message not to clear when replacing the cartridge. Try replacing the yellow tonor aswell and see if the black doesnt reset too.

Hi, I just replaced the yellow toner cartridge with a brand new one and the crum check error indicating "not a genuine xerox cartridge" dissapeared, but the original "replace black toner cartridge" is still there. Any more suggestions ?
Thanks.

Not to beat a dead horse but have you tried a new toner after replacing all those parts (not one that was used before replacing all those parts)? It could be a defective crum.

If you have the Service manual, and you have tried all the steps on pages 3-45 and 3-46, as a last resort do the CRUM life reset.

If that fails then call a Xerox ASP/SDP.
