Keep getting this error "U8-2 Cycle Power" after warm up on this colour laser. I assume the U8 refers to the chip at position U8 on the circuit board but that is as far as I get.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Marty

U8-2 is a Low Density failure code. There is a sensor called an ADC sensor that measures colour patches for density of colour. This sensor may be dirty/faulty. But I have some machines with this fault that have problems with faulty toner. Or the dispense motor is not working. There are more things that can be causing this code but check these first.

For toner, remove cartridge from machine open toner shield and turn auger to see if it's turning.
For the rest you may need a tech to check.

fieryzx - thanks for your reply - you seem to be the only person I can find who knows anything about this problem. I have just had a tech here to look at the printer and I gave him your response but he was unable to find the ADC sensor you spoke of. Are you able to give me more detailed info to pass onto him?

Or is there manuals online to give him more idea of where to start?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Marty

The ADC sensor sits under IBT belt. (when you remove the drum it the big flat belt you can see) You can see the sensor inside down to the left. if you are carefull you can clean it with a soft cloth but becarefull of static because this sensor can be damage by it. ( You are meant to take the IBT assmy out to check it but this is a 3/4 to 1 hour job and as the IBT assmy comes out of the top of the machine you need someone who has had training or has done this by the book.
I would be taking the top cover off and checking Dev drive assmys first. there is a large white cross toothed gear that can have teeth missing. Move the dev rotator slowly and check with a torch. If your tech has a manual he can also use codes to test motors.Another thing to check is the tone sensor. Take out the fuser assmy. remove door just above the fuser and the black transport frame behind the door. You should be able to see the toner sensor under the dev assmy's can be removed from under where the fuser use to be. Gets very dirty from leaking toner.

fieryzx,

I really appreciate your help to date. I cleaned what I assume is the ADC sensor (an inch long silver thing that sits atop the middle of the IBT belt) but no luck. I will check the other two things later today (workload pending)

You don't happen to live on the gold coast and would like a bit of extra work ???? The tech I currently have looking at it isn't a Xerox expert but I will pass on your message to him. The Xerox helpline in Australia is not exactly whay I call helpful, but I may have to get one of their techs as a last resort!

I will let you know

Marty

There is a Xerox dealer on the Coast, cannot remember the address. Has been 3 years since I have talked to anyone from there. They use to have a few tech's that were very good on C410's.
I was on the Goldcoast in April but only on holiday.

I hope one of the two tips I gave you helps, I have had a few C410's with the same code this year and luckly One of the 3 things I have told you about has fixed it (one of them I had to replace dev drive assmy). The biggest problem if this does not fix it you may be looking at Control PWB's or faulty ADC sensor. (big money). Fingers crossed.

fieryzx,

I contacted Xerox Business Centre here on the Gold Coast and they sent out a tech the next day. He sussed the problem in 30 mins (faulty toner dispensor motor), got the replacement part in two days, then fitted it and adjusted the IBT cleaner. The tech was really helpful and gave me plenty of extra advice. The printer is now working like a new one.

Thanks again for all your advice and help.

Marty
