Xerox Document Centre 432 won't duplex from ACT! template 1

Premium for Workgroups 10. Client printing template from ACT! to networked Xerox Document Centre 432 -- 11 x 17 sending as duplex from Word. Sometimes comes out duplexed, sometimes on two separate sheets.

If template is opened directly in Word and printed, it always duplexes. If template is opened in GoldMine (from whence they came), it always works.

How does the spawning of Word from ACT! affect the Word --> Printer dialog? Any suggestions?

They said everything was working fine until their marketing person changed their screen layout. I don't see how that could be anything but coincidence. Am I wrong?
 
I don't have a duplex printer, but I've heard that on some printers, you need to print a document (just from Word) with the setting for double-sided, then print the doc from ACT!.

That is, it will print according to how the print driver was last set and doesn't seem to change it
