Just replaced a Xerox X-12 with a ColorQube 9201. All jobs done in Quark 6.5 now prints imported eps and pdf files at 100% (instead of the placed size) and rotated 90° clockwise. Doesn't happen with tif or jpg but those lack the detail of eps and pdf and I'm wondering how I'm now supposed to do clipping paths. Xerox guy, of course, said the problem isn't the machine but instead with Quark and suggested 1)I switch to InDesign and 2) maybe Quark 8 will fix the problem. That is a LOT of jobs I would have to redo in InDesign and I'm frankly not that fond of the program--reminds me of PageMaker. Does anyone know WHY this printer is scrambling my layouts and how I can fix it--without switching to InDesign. WILL Quark 8 print correctly?

If I save the entire Quark job as a pdf and print it from Acrobat it will print fine--it just won't print correctly from from Quark. But I've answered my own question. I tried a trial download of Quark 8 and the Xerox guy was right--it prints OK. Quark 6.5 is just too old to work with the new machine. Problem now is Quark 8 looks a lot like InDesign :)
Maybe I'm getting too old for this line of work...
