Hi, Everyone

I'm sorry if this is not the correct forum for this questions.

I'm new to Xen, but I have been using VMware for quite some time, i would like to start using Xen, can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start. Also does Xen support varius os like vmware (ex. windows, BSD and others)

Many Thanks

Xen is nothing like VMWare. It is not an application that emulates hardware, but it offers a layer that allows your hardware to be utilized by more operating systems at once. So it is a way of optimizing your hardware utilisation.
While it performs faster than VMWare, it also requires a kernel compiled specifically. YOu can however download some kernels already patched for Xen

You can, with relative ease according to your linux skills, run multiple instances of the same OS; you can also run different *nix like OS.

Whether you can run Windoz is dubious; SOme (like PC format March 2006) reckon you can. Others do not think so.

I have followed the tutorial from Linux Format and got it to work on FC4; I did not try directly to use windoz on Xen so I cannot give you an answer.

Xen home page offers some documentation.

I recommend that you request the old Linux FOrmat March 2006 Issue to have a human tutorial.

Good luck and keep us posted if you find better and easier tutorials.

Cheers
