Hi,

I have WinNT and a Linux computer and when i am logging on Linux from the WinNT computer(with KEA!X) every 1-2 minutes i get the error msg:
XDMCP timed out, State=4 (CollectBroadcastQuery)
What do I need to do to solve this problem ?
I am new in this area, so i have configured the xdm service in rc.config file to be able to start netscape from WinNT on Linux. Also I am interessted to create an image of my Linux System which i could use every time when system crashes or if i would go back to an older configuration. For any informations i would be very happy ... Many thanks

Regards Murat

Hi,

Is there a set-up option to use 'passive' as the communications method ? In Hummingbird Exceed its in Xconfig - communications. Look for something similar with KEA!X and try that. Although xdm uses xdmcp (X display manager control protocol), it's really only used (as far as I know) to provide a graphical X logon / window manager menu, i.e. as an alternative to doing startx from the console line. As such, I've always though of xdm as functionally equivalent to gdm (gnome) or kdm (kde).

Regards
