Running a RISC 6000 server with AIX 4.2.1

xdm will not start on reboot.... output captured from /etc/rc.tcpip shows

0513-085 The xdm subsystem is not on file
0513-085 The fs subsystem is not on file.

I can start xdm by hand with a nohup, but obviously, I want the src to control this.

Any info would be appreciated.

I don't show xdm as a subsystem either. I suggest that you just change your default user interface to "CDE".

Bill.

If you are running xdm...the process is
/usr/lib/X11/Xdm/Xdmconf -d (for disable on next boot) and -e (for enable on
next reboot) You can run one or the other, not both.

To start xdm instead of CDE
dtconfig -kill
dtconfig -d
then run /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdmconf
startsrc -s xdm

To go the other way it will be xdmconfig -d and dtconfig -e

Maybe it will help? If all the filesets are loaded as well
