Good morning!

I am using a script to run XCOPY (on Win2K) repeatedly to copy a single file to a different drive. I can't find a way to suppress the prompt which asks me whether I want the destination to be a file or a folder. I want it to be a file. How do I suppress the prompt?

Thanks.
T.

Cant answer that but I can suggest you use Robocopy - its a very powerful app and I doubt you will have this problem if you were to use it.

Where do I find RoboCopy and how much does it cost?

The rktools.exe itself, from that page which you sent me to, refuses to install itself on Win2000. It says it needs WinXP or later. If robocopy doesn't need to be installed, though, it might work on Win2000. Do you know where I can get a standalone copy?

I do this one.

Xcopy [source] [destination] -d -e -r -k -y -c -h -i

Infallible. Time stamps, creates subdirectories, over writes without prompts, all that stuff.

End the destination with a \ (backslash). Works all the time. Only documented in older memory ;-)

Yup.

You may know more about Windows than I do, but you certainly don't have an older memory than I do. I was the best man at the wedding of Adam and Eve.
