.My mate's got a geforce mx440 and every now and then when he turns on the pc, it says 'detected new hardware' and goes through all the gubbins of re-installing the drivers. He has tried the most up to date nvidia drivers and this cleared it for a bit but now its back.

It doesn't happen all the time just every now and then.

Can anyone make any suggestions?

TIA,

Ed Metcalfe.

Uninstall all the video card drivers first. Then restart, and install the new drivers. Try that, and see if it clears it up.

when done uninstalling the vid card drivers, and before re-installing or installing newer drivers, do a manual registry search for entries there, that is likely where the prob is. You may have to search for nvidia and geforce both to find all entries.
