Hi all,

I accidentally restored an unwanted directory onto my server. Problem is when I try to delete the directory, I receive access denied errors. The directory contains sub folders and files that have no user\permissions assigned to them thus generating the access denied errors. Can I use Xcacls to automatically assign the administrator full control permissions? Please help!

Thanks,

Sip

You can simply take ownership of the files.

Right click the main folder. Choose properties. Click the Security tab. click the Advanced Button. Click the owner tab. Select the check box to replace owner on Subcontainers and Objects. Click Administrators in the list and choose OK.

Once you are the owner, close out of security and go back in. You will now be able to assign rights via the GUI.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Regards,

Mark
