Can I use Microsofts X box PC on my rear projection tv. Most say no? Why not? I've tried once or twice for about 2-3 hours at a time and had no problems. But I don't want to continue if someone can tell me why I really should not do this?
For future reference, this forum is geared more for professional work than gaming...
Rear-projection TV's have sensitive screens that reflect a sharp image. If an image stays on the screen for too long without changing, you risk "burning" part of the image into the screen which will show at all times.
Some games for example, have areas on the screen that don't change for long periods of time (like Halo where you might see your radar in the same spot for the entire mission). The outline of the radar could become a permanent fixture!
Generally, it can still be done. You just want to be careful not to pause any games leaving the TV on or play for more than 30-45 minutes at a time with games that have stationary screens. Over time however, playing the same games over and over just increases the risk.
