I manage 2 BCM's, a BCM50 2.0, and a BCM 1000 4.0. I just started to roll out 1140E phones to a small group and I would like to explore the "extend to pc" option. Plus the USB support for keyboard, mouse etc. Is it possible to set up an XAS (external application server), on a BCM? I am the kind of guy who wants all the gadgets to work. Any help would be appreciated.

check out the user guide for 1140e ...thats got some information

I did read that, and it mentions CS1000! I am hoping to make it work on the BCM 400, or 50. If you log into the 1140 preferences by hitting services twice, then arrow down to XAS server IP, and Port info, I need to know what that item can be. Maybe a server or pc with some sort of software? I would like to know more about that for sure. Especially if you can have it act like a PC and use a mouse to move around when the phone is inactive.

Just a thought.

it maybe just for the CS1000 - just like the key expansion module

Interesting, I did not know the expansion was just for cs1000? I am about to order one of those. But just as an FYI, the bcm 50 1.0 did not support the IP 1140E phones at all, and I changed the port to 7000 and it worked. I used it for over a year before upgrading to 2.0. I never tried on the BCM 3.7 though.

Key Expansion Module is supported on the BCM 4.0 is it not?

Key Expansion Module for IP Phone 2004 is supported on BCM 200/400 4.0 and BCM 50 2.0. Key Expansion Module for IP Phone 1120E/1140E is not yet supported on BCM.

Has anyone used the extend to PC feature on a BCM? I would like to know more about it. The visual voice sounds cool.

The Application Gateway 1000 provides enhanced capabilities to the IP sets (CS1K or BCM). Visual Voicemail, Zone Paging, Express Directory, Broadcast Alerts and Click-to-Call. Zone Paging is redundant for BCM users because one of the goals was to bring Key System features such as paging to a PBX environment.

Also, the AG1K is not limited to the applications listed above. There is a hospitality suite for hotels, the ability to format Internet webpages (i.e. screenscrapes) for the Nortel phones and an open API to allow for custom apps.
