anyone have experience sending alerts from the iloms either:

syslog, smtp or smnp

I went by the Sun docs for the iloms.

I setup the syslog, but it does not seem to be working out of the box like they state.

The ports open, I pointed towards my current syslog server im using to capture logs from all my other hosts.

Anyways any tips would be great.

These things can be so annoying....

well I got the smtp working, but I prefer the syslog...

Who knows I might just be impatient and it is setup, I can not figure out a way to test.

Testing is actually easy. You have multiple power cords running into the system, pull one plug and see what it reports (should be a power supply failure).

ya, I thought of that also but im not on site to do that.

I think I found the problem though. The network guys have the wrong port open, 514-udp should of been open for syslog, they opened another port. So I was basically fighting a losing battle
