Hi, we have a customer 2 sites, currently using index IPNC to connect together. The ipnc cassettes either end, connect directly to the x.21 trib on BT's NTE. We are swapping for IP 500's which do not have the same x.21 connection, we need to connect the Lan2/Wan of both IP 500's to BT's NTE, has anyone come across a smilar situation, not sure if BT will need to attend site to switch from x.21 to an rj45 trib connection or if there is an interface we can purchase, any ideas?

(there is an rj45 connection on each nte labelled as the same trib number as the x.21, however plugging a laptop onto it we there is no activity)

RJ45 on the BT NTE is for the presentaion of ISDN-30e services.

If both sites are serviced by the BT X.21 presented link I assume it is a dedicated Megastream type service offering 1 or 2Mbits serial link.

To use this line you will need a LAN to WAN data router to handle inter office traffic.

We have used Cisco 1700 /1800 series units in the past with no problems. Roughly £900 per end for the units.

Pity Avaya removed the X.21 feature as we used the IP406 just for data routing as cheaper than the Cisco's and far simpler to setup & support.
