X11 console cannot be accessed

Hi there, just want to ask if anyone of you encountered this problem. We have a pseries 6e1 5.1.0 and sometimes the system goes hang and the X11 console cannot be accessed . Even telnet is not working but i can still ping the server.

Do i need to load any patch on the server..

what maintenance level are you running ?

with version 5 latest is 3 ( instfix -i | grep ML)

how many network interfaces have you got configured ?

Do they connect to a switch or a hub ?

If a switch are the port settings the same i.e. 100 MB full duplex

run entstat -d en? view what speed card(s) is running at.

they are on latest 3. I only used one network interface (on board)..they are connected directly to switch..
the Cisco switch is 10/100 mbps.. my internal adapetr is set auto mbps.

FYI, I can still ping the server from PC and telnet. but i cannot put any character coz the keyborad is hang.. all pc and X11 console..

hi,

I would firstly set the speed of the card and switch port the same i.e. 10 or 100MB FULL DUPLEX , change network card to 100MB FUll duplex and make sure switch port is set the same.
