X windows install

Hi there
I am using WinaXe to create an X Windows session from which I can install Oracle 8i from my NT PC.
AIX has only just been installed on the server and all the X11 software bundles loaded.
If I open a session from my PC I just get a blank screen without any of the Icons or controls that I expect at the base of the screen.
If I connect via telnet & enter DISPLAY=ipaddress:0.0 and then enter xclock, a clock appears on the WinaXe session, but still no control panel.
Is there still some software I have omitted to install on the AIX or a configuration file that needs to be set-up?

I guess you want the CDE. How is it that you are establishing a Xsession with ur AIX machine.IF it is just through telnet you will just get a simple session but try XDMCP direct connection with your AIX machine. i dont know bout the xwindows software that you are using but most of them like reflection and exceed have this option, there shud be a similar option for your software too. so try using a XDMCP direct connection to ur AIX machine.
