I just did a clean install of RH8. When I 'startx' all I end up getting is:

- root@hostname in a green box in the upper-left corner.
- a 3x3 table that is locked to my mouse until I click

When I click, the table turns into a shell window. If I click somewhere I get a twm menu.

When I get out of this mess, there is an error on my screen that says I can't run this resolution.

So my question for now is, how can I change the resolution setting without using the GUI?

Thanks.

Try running the 'redhat-config-xfree86' command.

One of the errors I get is something like "You have selected Fvwm2 as your window manager, but your installation doesn't appear to be functional /usr/X11R6/bin/fvwm2 was not found on your system."

Is there a simple way to repair this?
