I've been playing around with X-Lite 4 and our MBG server, after finding issue's with my firewall I managed to get the X-Lite client to register with the MBG (Very latest version) The phone reports as registered and I can dial voicemail (6000) and make external calls. However I cannot make calls to other extensions, and other extensions cannot call me. If I setup a speed call to the DN and call it I get out of service tone. I think the internal users receive a not registered warning on their handsets.

So, it's nearly working, but not.

If direct SIP software onto the controller (to my Generic SIP extension), it does the same thing. (MCD 4.0)

Are you saying if you connect directly to the MCD from within the local LAN it doesn't work?

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

I've just double checked this as my initial tests were over and VPN. I'm now in the office and have connected my X-Lite to the Mitel controller via the LAN address. Everything works fine.

So it's when I go through the MBG.

Ok, additional update. I've entered the MBG external details into the X-Lite setup while I'm on the LAN. Phone registers fine and all calls work.

So it only stops working when I'm located outside of the LAN.

So if you're outside the LAN and you call an internal extension, what does the x-lite do? dead-air, re-order?

My standard response to these is to sniff the network, otherwise it's a big black box. Start at the x-lite. What does the SIP signaling say?

It's started working now to a degree. Call's work when made from X-Lite to another device, audio in both directions.

If the handsets call the SIP phone, the phone rings, when you attempt to pickup it appears to work, but no audio on both sides and the caller doesn't hear ringing.

Do you have any other teleworkers working?

How is the MBG deployed? Server/Gateway, Server, in a DMZ?

Lou, yes standard MiNet devices work fine. I have now managed to fix this.

Our MBG server has a public IP and is connected to an X port on a SonicWall and this should be transparent. However the SonicWall has Enable SIP Transformation ticked (I think you need this for SIP trunks) Anyway, I unchecked it and now I have X-Lite working on my notebook and my boss has Bria working on his iPhone 4, all via MBG!

Excellent work

The MBG docs say you must disable any SIP helper on the firewall, and let the MBG handle the SDPs.

You did right disabling "Sip Transformation"

Daniel
