Is there a command other that xdt3 to start X.Desktop?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to get X.desktop to run in the account of a new username I just created. I get the error that the "X server can not be found" . I made sure the path for the files is in the users .profile but it still refuses to start. In the root account the X.desktop starts without probs.

Do I have to copy all the X server files to the new users account or is there an easier way to do this?

I allready copied over the sys.startxrc file as $HOME/.startxrc but it made no difference. Could it be that I didn't set some magical permission for this username?Maybe I should check the "other" executable permissions for the root server X files.

P.S. Thought I'd add a few facts... I'm tryng to get the desktop to show up on the SCO servers console..which reminds me, is there a command to view what SCO system thinks the display name for the console is? I guess I don't know if its TTY0, TTY1....TTY2000 or what.

I'm tryng to get the desktop to show up on the SCO servers console
man scologin
The display names for the console are /dev/tty01 thru /dev/tty12. To switch to virtual screen x (x=1 .. 12) press Ctrl+Alt+Fx

Hope This Helps, PH.
