Hello,

I'm setting up X.400 communication through a leased line between our Exchange 2003 and a remote X.400 MTA (non-Exchange).
Sending is ok, I get the following trace:
tracesentok.gif

Receiving fails, following trace:
tracereceivenotok.gif

Seems that somewhere in the conversation our Exchange gets stuck and doens'nt respond to the remote MTA ?
On the remote side they get a connection refused when they try to send a message to us ?
Does anyone have any experience in setting up X.400 comm., I'm pretty desperate...

Thx

Steven

Verify that the firewall/s in between have port 102 open to receive communications.

Hello,

thx for response.
To ensure that firewall allows conection, I can telnet to port 102 on remote MTA (55.8.56.92)

Also the remote site can telnet my IP 172.31.1.41 without problems.

So I guess network routes/access is ok ?

Strange thing is that our server should respond to a COTP packet with a COTP packet, but he sends out another ACK. Could this relate to a firewall problem ?

Is it a Pix firewall? Is there a fixup X400? Definitely look at the firewall config.

Connection is made from the server to our central router, which has a 2 Mbit leased line connection to the remote site.
On the central router (Cisco 3725), there's a route for 55.8.56.92 that points to leased line.
But again, when I telnet from the serer to port 102 on the remote server, i get answer from the MTA.
Also sending is no problem, it's the receiving part that fails (but remote can also telnet to our Exchange on port 102).
