WXP Pro- OE Address Book problem

OE address book is somewhat compromised, and cannot be opened.( When I click on the address book icon a flag say:Unable to open address book. The address book is not installed properly.
I have hundreds of addresses in there and I would like to retrieve them before I do a clean install.
Is it possible to repair OE so that I can get to my addresses,
or if I can restore OE I would loose all of my addresses

The Windows Address Book works independantly of OE. Will it work from the Start menu (under Accessories)?
