I have written an ASP.Net/MySQL application that runs on a dedicated WinXP box. This application is used on a mining machine that operates in a remote location (no internet connectivity of any kind). Raw data is fed into the MySQL database from the PLC that runs the machine. The ASP.Net code analyzes the data and displays reports for the user of the machine.
The question/problem that prompts this post is that after some unknown period of time - a factory technician only visits the machine about once a month - the in Windows (World Wide Web Publishing) becomes stopped. This of course causes the ASP.Net pages to fail, which makes the customer unhappy.
The service can be restarted without difficulty and things resume working as intended. Unfortunately, we can't ship a SysAdmin with each machine - so that is not a fix. Does anyone know what might be causing this behavior?
