this is a wierd one, I have a PC with XP and IE6, on some websites I get a page not found when I put the the address. and other sites it's just fine. But I have other PC's on same LAN that do not have this problem.
Any suggestions?

Quite wierd indeed. The IEFix utility is certainly a good starting point for something like this. Additionally, make sure that the problem system is not using different proxy server settings than the ones that work correctly.

No proxy server settings in IE. but I will try the IEFIX utility today.

i am very aware myself that the not really required to access a web page. But when one supports end users who are dysfunctional geriatrics and mental misfits, and every website advertisement in email, billboards, business cards, flyers, etc... all have website addresses that start with WWW it is much easier to find a work around for them then to spend the rest of my life trying to explain why they don't need to put the some addresses and not the others.

Hi

Ok then. From your words, "I have a PC", I thought that is your private computer. But indeed, many end users have a natural resistance against understanding the daily used web.

Feherke.

sorry if you misunderstood, I will use the proper vernacular in the forum from now on. I was not referring to my own personal computer.
