I'm setting up a lab with a large number of machines running Win98 (although some older ones will have Win95). I want to network the machines to share data. My company is running SMS 2.0. Severeal minutes after I log on I get a dialog with the message...WUSER32.EXE has caused a general protection fault in...and so on and so on. The machines are basically hung and can't be logged off/shut down properly. Network folks aren't much help. Any thoughts on this? [sig][/sig]

WUSER errors are often caused by incompatibilities with video drivers, because the remote control agent (WSER32.EXE) has to hook the driver in order to allow the remote user to view the desktop. Try upgrading the drivers to the newest versions available from the video adapter manufacturer.

There's also an issue when some custom mouse drivers are loaded before the Remote Tools are started. Check the Autoexec.bat, Win.ini, System.ini, etc.

I have seen this error on Win98 systems with LCD monitors. I have not found a solution.

As far as I'm concerned SMS is as bad as any virus. It totally trashes Win95 and Win98. The OS has to be reloaded in order to recover. Insane!
