I used a beta version but found it kind of clunky.
I think you'd be better off writing stuff in Tomcat and sticking the message on a request / reply queue to get it processed by TX. Or implement Message Broker.
Possibly its better now, but it still doesn't seem like a good architecture.
We were looking to see what our options were moving on from the Event Server. Message Broker is one option but there are other ESB style products deployed here that could do just the job.
I'm currently using the Web Services Pack with Websphere Transformation Extender 8.1.0.2 on Windows. The WSDL support is fine in that you can create type trees from WSDLs. The SOAP adapter relies on the underlying HTTP adapter. So far it's all good news really.
