Can this cause problems?

Our standard environment is XP clients with Office 2003. Some of the engineers here who manage the WSUS have previously released updates that are targeted for Vista and Office 2007. A while back we had a nasty global problem that suddenly appeared on our clients, which after some research, looks that it might have been caused by one of these 2007 updates. We really don't know for sure, but I'm curious to know if releasing 2007 updates in a 2003 envirionment has been known to cause problems.

Thanks for your input,

Mike

It sure shouldnt be a problem, only problem i see is wasting space on your WSUS server downloading updates you dont need. If the clients dont have the software intended for the updates WSUS wont deploy the updates.
