I dload'd the client diag tool to tshoot a wsus problem but the client always fails to run. I get the CheckUserLevel() failed with hr=0x800070005. Access is denied.

It said, checking for admin rights to run tool......FAIL

I tried logging off and logging back in USING the local admin acct. No fix. I tried adding my domain user acct to the local admin group. No Fix. I tried the runas command for the tool, No fix. I have a domain admin user acct and I also tried running the tool as the local admin but nothing works. I am not sure why I am getting this error.

Any ideas?

What was the problem that caused you to want to run the Diagnostic Tool?

See what this thread has to say on that matter.

WSUS Client Diagnostic tool by mcsepit

Can you run this program on any machine that is producing your error and see what is happening when you launch the tool.

Process Monitor v2.8

You could look at the SubInAcl command discussed in this thread if it is a permissions problem.

See if resetting IE back to default, as sometimes a wrong setting of the IE config can cause this issue, is of any use:

Reset Internet Explorer Settings

also have a read:

Error on Outlook Client 0x80070005

or it could just simply be a corrupted download in the first place. so download the troubleshooter tool again from MS, and attempt to install once more...

also check your permissions on the C: drive and Windows folder, make sure that Administrators have full access and definitive that SYSTEM has full access...
